About the Wycliffe Heads

Welcome to the Wycliffe Heads


They are run by the Wycliffe Watermen in association with the Wycliffe College Boat Club on the Gloucester Sharpness Canal at Saul Junction. 

The Wycliffe Small Boats Head is now in its 39th year and is held on the 1st Saturday of December. The course is from Park End Bridge to the boat house, over about 2500m.

The Wycliffe Big Head is now in its 20th year and is held on the 1st Saturday of February The course is from Slimbridge Bridge to the Fretherne Bridge, over about 4500m. The finish is about 1500m from the boathouse. More information about the heads can be found on their pages.

PLEASE NOTE that there is limited parking for spectators. We have obtained as much car parking space as possible but this is limited. You must not park on the side of the surrounding roads. The Wycliffe Big Head is run away from the boathouse. The finish is approximately 2km (1.2 miles) from the boathouse and the start another 4.5km (2.7 miles)
